Medical Cannabis and CBD For Women’s Health
with Integrative Cannabis Physician Dr. June Chin
Everything health and wellness practitioners need to know to have a basic understanding of the incredible healing power of cannabis and how it can potentially provide relief and enhance the overall well-being of their clients and patients.

Is CBD For You?
You’ve heard a lot about medical cannabis and CBD and are curious if it can help you and your clients, but with information overload and not knowing whom to trust, you are confused and overwhelmed.
Taught by world-renowned integrative cannabis physician, Dr. June Chin, this program will alleviate the fear and stigma, and educate you on the science and use of medical cannabis.
Hi! I’m Dr. June!
I am an osteopathic physician, integrative cannabis physician and board member of the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine and the Association For Cannabis Health Equity and Medicine. I am one of the world’s leading cannabis physicians, having practiced integrative cannabinoid medicine for almost 20 years. My work has been featured in CNN, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, Today Show and others.
I am also a chronic pain survivor. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), a progressive type of arthritis that affects the spine, pelvis, hips, and back and causes extreme stiffness and nerve pain. I was prescribed opiate pain medications, steroids, epidurals. Ultimately surgery was recommended to fuse my spine. But I did not want to go down that path. Then in med school, a doctor gave me medical cannabis for my pain. I reluctantly tried it and was shocked to find that my pain was gone without all the side effects of prescription medication. As a result of my experience, I researched the science and healing power of medical cannabis and am dedicated to finding effective, integrative and holistic approaches to patient care.
With the onset of the pandemic, there has been a huge increase of women who are seeking medical cannabis for relief. I wanted to create this course so that women could have easier access and education on the science behind cannabis, and how it can potentially help you with your medical and personal needs.

How Cannabis and CBD Transformed These Women’s Lives
WENDY NGUYEN

A personal journey that became a life mission, Wendy is an abuse survivor and a product of the foster care system. From age 5 to 14, Wendy suffered from sexual and physical abuse, and by 15, was placed in foster care.
The childhood trauma left Wendy with a damaged pelvic floor, interstitial cystitis (IC), pelvic floor muscle spasms, and chronic UTIs, which ultimately resulted in years of medication and a battery of treatments. After seeing countless specialists and even considering pelvic floor reconstruction and bladder surgery, she became more disheartened and frustrated with the traditional approach to medicine and patient care. Still suffering from pain, compounded by the medications’ unwanted side effects, Wendy became interested in natural remedies and CBD after watching a Vice episode on cannabis and pain.
Journaling extensively, Wendy started her CBD journey in early 2019. Documenting and comparing notes – in 2018, she experienced 24 painful IC and pelvic floor muscle spasms episodes, lasting 5 to 10 days per episode, and constant UTIs. In 2019, it went down to 2. In 2020, it was zero. She continues to take CBD plus other natural remedies daily to manage her spasms, pain, PTSD, and anxiety.
In 2018, I experienced 24 painful IC and pelvic floor muscle spasm episodes that would last 5 to 10 days per episode. Now with daily CBD, I am down to zero with no side effects.
KOURTNEY KETTERHAGEN

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness.
No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure.
To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?
I am a movement person – high expectations and not a lot of patience. Cannabis allows me to slow my mind, and be more patient with my family.
CHELSEA LEYLAND

I am a deejay/activist/filmmaker and co-founder living in New York City.
Besides my work in the arts, I am an outspoken advocate/activist for medical cannabis. In my mid-teens, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. After years of attempting to quell my seizures with pharmaceutical drugs, I finally gained access to medical cannabis, which changed my life.
For the last two years, I have been working on a documentary, Sisters Interrupted, which explores my fight to gain access to medical cannabis in the UK for my older sister Tamsin, who lives in care in the UK and, despite being on a cocktail of harmful pharmaceutical drugs, still suffers from daily seizures due to her epilepsy.
More recently, I have ventured into the women’s health and wellness space, speaking publicly about my diagnosis of endometriosis, and how cannabis has aided my treatment.
I am the proud co-founder of Looni, a womxn’s health company, committed to holistically improving the lives and wellbeing of people with menstrual cycles and challenging the notion of women’s health as we know it.
